Terms of Service
Last updated: July 22, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of HomeHistory. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
1.The service
HomeHistory is an online property record-keeping platform operated by Home History Technologies Inc. ("HomeHistory", "we", "us"), a Canadian company. It lets you store information about a property — documents, photos, expenses, maintenance history, appliances, warranties, tenants and related records — and share limited views of that information with people you invite.
There are four account types:
- Homeowner — records for a primary residence, cottage or other owned property.
- Landlord — records for a rental property, including tenants and rent tracking.
- Agent — a real estate professional who can be connected to a homeowner client.
- Trade / Professional — a service provider who can receive job requests from a homeowner.
- Tenant — a renter connected to a landlord's rental property.
What each account type can see is limited by the access controls built into the app.
2.Private beta and access codes
HomeHistory is currently in private beta. Creating an account requires a valid access code. Access may be limited, invitation-only, or paused at any time while the service is in beta.
Features, pricing, and these terms may change during the beta period. We will make reasonable efforts to notify active users of material changes.
3.Your account and responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- The accuracy of information you enter, including property addresses, financial figures and dates.
- Keeping your login credentials confidential.
- Only uploading content you have the right to upload — including documents, photos, receipts and invoices.
- Not using HomeHistory for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or that infringes someone else's rights.
- Not attempting to interfere with the security, integrity or performance of the service.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
4.Ownership of your content
You retain ownership of the content you upload and information you enter ("Your Content"). By using HomeHistory, you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to store, host, display, back up, and process Your Content solely to operate and provide the service to you — including running receipt scans and generating reports at your request.
This licence ends when Your Content is deleted from our systems, subject to the retention timeframes in our Privacy Policy.
5.Not professional advice
HomeHistory is a record-keeping tool. It is not a substitute for professional legal, tax, insurance, accounting, or real estate advice. Reports, summaries and calculations produced by the app — including Home History Reports and expense categorizations — are informational only.
As already noted on Home History Reports: buyers and their representatives should complete their own title and ownership due diligence. Consult a qualified professional before making decisions based on information stored in or generated by HomeHistory.
6.We don't verify relationships or credentials
Connections between accounts are based on user-initiated invites, not verified relationships. HomeHistory does not verify:
- Property ownership or title.
- Tenant or landlord identity.
- Trade or professional licences, insurance or credentials.
- Agent registration or brokerage affiliation.
Where the app offers an optional ownership-proof upload, that review is a best-effort automated check — not a legal determination of ownership. You are responsible for confirming who you connect and share information with.
7.Subscription, billing and cancellation
Paid plans are billed through Stripe on a monthly or annual basis, in the currency shown at checkout. Prices, tiers, and included limits are described on the Pricing page and may change from time to time; changes will not affect a billing period already paid for.
You can cancel a paid subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep paid features until then, and we do not issue prorated refunds for partial periods, except where required by law.
If a payment fails, we may downgrade or suspend paid features until the account is brought current.
8.Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload content that is illegal, infringing, harmful, harassing or misleading.
- Use HomeHistory to store or transmit content on behalf of someone else without their permission.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or overload the service.
- Use automated means to create accounts or bypass access controls.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your relationship to a property, tenant, landlord, client, or trade.
9.Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have violated these terms, if required by law, or to protect the security or integrity of the service. Where practical, we will give you notice and an opportunity to export Your Content.
You may close your account at any time. Data handling after cancellation is described in our Privacy Policy.
10.Disclaimer and limitation of liability
HomeHistory is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that stored data will always be retrievable.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amounts you paid to HomeHistory in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill.
11.Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Home History Technologies Inc. and its personnel from any third-party claim arising out of Your Content, your use of the service, or your breach of these terms.
12.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify active users. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
13.Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada.
